Sprint Goal

Table of contents

A sprint goal is a short, clear, concise statement guiding the team’s work during a sprint. It outlines the team’s objective, serving as a beacon for its goal.

The Scrum team commits to the Spring Goal during the Sprint Planning.

Characteristics

A well-defined Sprint Goal is narrow in scope, focusing on a specific aspect of the product or functionality to be delivered within the sprint. This specificity aids in the team’s focus and productivity.

The Sprint Goal should be time-bound to correspond to the duration of the sprint.

Example

“To improve user on-boarding experience, the sprint goal is to implement a simplified registration process with social media integration and email verification. By the end of the sprint, users should be able to sign up quickly and seamlessly, leading to a 15% increase in new user registrations.”

“Sprint goal: Refine the homepage layout and navigation to enhance user engagement and simplify access to key content. By the end of the sprint, the homepage should have a cleaner design with clear calls-to-action, resulting in a 20% increase in average session duration.”
